iPocket Draw App Reviews

Perhaps powerful

Much easier to sketch with this than non-vector programs. Nice guide-lines and a gentle snap-to. Unfortunately the file delete function doesnt, and the PDF mailing button crashes the iPad. The only working export capability seems to be the photo mail, which does work. Another update or two and this will be pretty good. Its already acceptable.

Superb

This app is defiantly 5 stars. For me it has increased the value of my iPad 10 fold. The potential for the future of this app is enormous. I will be buying a stylus because I think it will make drawing more efficient on the iPad. Thanks again for a great app. Well worth the money.

Shaping up

This is a great app... highly recommended for simple to moderate layout and CAD/design work. Just a couple of points I would make. The tool icons need a little work, given that you can scale the page I would make the icons bigger because they are sometimes hard to action. In fact this is where the application needs some help because it kinda feels like its been developed by a coder (so many iOS apps are!) and has not had any design flare added... I would make all the tool icons run either down the side or along the top and not split them, and then make them larger and more like a traditional desktop application. Lastly... it would be great if you could email as an EPS, this would really open up this app to all manner of design applications. Otherwise... nice job, well done.

iTried, iDrawed, iDumped

I cant even rotate the objects!?

Nothing else like it

Its layout is smart and open and its satisfying to use and dig into.

Why does it keep erasing my negative review

Why does it keep erasing my negative review. I paid good money for this application, it was awful so I honestly review it but for some reason it keeps erasing my review. If Apple has intergrity, they need to keep this review up.

Complete Waste

This app is a complete waste on money. It has too many glitches and the developer does not now anything about CADs. I think he made it to work with his mentally challenged mind and not the average person. Waste of time and money. If you dont believe me then buy it. I know I am out of $10.00. I could give it somebody that needs to eat instead and would of felt better.

Wow

Simply the best app I have found! its easier then cad on my pc.the new changes they maid to it are fantastic.I can not say enough .if you are like me and are frustrated by other apps ,get this one!!!

Crap!

First got it it was a 2or3 star app. Idesign is way better and its only like 2 bucks! With new updates that supposedly fix bugs, it wont even open. Really? How does apple let in crappy, overpriced, clearly inferior apps like this, but they wont let in GrooveShark--the best potential app everrr!--

Getting better and better. Version 1.6

I just designed the mechanicals for a second circuit board in about 20 minutes. Previously a similar board took a few hours. The added features made this possible. I dont want to know CAD more specifically, I dont want to know the terminology of CAD programs. I know geometry I want to create shapes and rotate them around, group them, and usually make them to an exact size. If I dont want to use an endpoint or midpoint, then I might have to do a little calculating and more importantly, I instantly know how to do it with this program because it is simplistic. When I find a bug I want to email support and I want an answer back in a day or 2, you get all that with this program.

Bug in a very nice app

Function rich and easy to use. Thanks. Theres a minor bug. Display a drawing in landscape orientation. Snap a photo of it (while holding the Power button, tap the Home button). The photo will be off by 90 degrees when displayed. Sorry to report the bug this way. Couldnt find a "contact us" on the Support page.

Not very functional, certainly not this version

Grid does not work after forum fix. Current version filled with lots of glitches.

Great value

I tried a couple other drawing apps before purchasing iPocket Draw. This was by far the best that I tried. For the price, this app is pretty amazing. It has all of the functionality needed for nearly all drawings that you would want to do on an iPad. While there are a couple quirky things yet in this app, it is easy to learn to use with a basic knowledge of drafting and CAD. The instructions are very minimal, a users forum with some helpful info. A detailed user manual would be a great addition. The more I use it, the more efficient I get and I am continually finding capabilities that I was unaware of. I am looking forward to future updates and even more capabilities. Dont expect this app to compete with a $100K CAD station, but for the price, I dont think you can beat it. I was pleasantly surprised with how good it is for the money.

CAD for an iPhone.

I never thought it would become a reality until I saw this one and its completely changed my productivity. Im no longer tied to a chair in front of a computer screen. I get an idea or a change on a design and in seconds Im working on it. Ive been through the AutoCad and DesignCad learning curve. Theyre great programs, Ive designed buildings with them, but a portable program for technical drawings and information exchange that integrates the other features on an iPhone is simply genius. I imagine Steve Jobs had this in mind when he created the iPhone. Integrate and simplify communication. The CAD program is easy to get started with yet is more complex as the user seeks additional functions. Its not a one level program but has the depth to create detailed professional drawings. If someone would have told me several years ago that I would be able make CAD drawings in the near future with my finger on a hand held device I wouldnt have believed it. Its here now, ready to draw, the future has arrived!

Impressed, but...

I wanted to use the chamfer tool but, it was not clear how to. I looked under "help" and in the manual and it was not clear. I havent figured out an easy way to research your "How Tos" intuitively, which makes using the app laborious. If I can get pass this bottle-neck, I would rate this app - 5 stars.

CAUTION - Corruption Issue

Entire day of work lost due to file saving/opening BUG... PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE... What was a welcome and enjoyable app experience, instantly became an empty white screen that crashes the application with any attempt to move the work area... Complete loss of confidence in this app, and a $12 evening of frustration, take my money, buy a pizza, hunker down and fix it ;(

E-rick

Its not a cheap apps and using It feels like the basic Autocad in terms of basic drawing tools and what these tools does. My wish lists would be to improve on champering, increased accuracy in snaps to mid, end, intersections. Saving it to other formats (jpg etc.) should allow compression in aspect ratio to give the right proportion once its re written to other formats. This app is quite powerful for iPad and I hope you can add more functions to the menu similar to technical drawings or designs. Please keep it up.

Update 1.95 Broke This App

Now, all of the drawing tools produce screen wide dark regions, then images vanish. Completely broken! If the developer provided contact information within the app or on the website, Id be letting him know directly instead of submitting this review. And this has always been the problem with iPocket Draw - the developer is very "hands off" when it comes to support, instructions, and the like - a man of few words. With adequate support & procedural instructions, this could be the best vector drawing app in the App Store (after this latest bug is fixed, of course)!

Response to HowieRoark

HowieRoark, All informations to contact me are in the About screen (button i). You have my e-mail and a link to a forum where you can ask questions on iPocket Draw and RealCADD. Before writing your review, you don’t have made many search to find me. Send an email to me to explain what happened, please. But I don’t have had other user with this kind of problem. Thanks. Eric

Perfect

Its exactly what I was looking for and intuitive to use. I wanted to be able to grab images of charts online and import into a program where I can draw support lines and also duplicate lines I drew. This works. I have only done this little bit with it but its what I needed.
